"After receiving secondaries from Florida schools, I started to find reasons why I probably wouldn’t want to go to there. I’d already finished ten secondaries and was waiting on six more, so I figured I’d let the FL apps go. I’m glad I didn’t. I found the Secondary Framework and was surprised at the clarity it gave based on my past essays, and the new ideas it sparked. I decided to submit my FL apps and actually got an interview invite in a week! Maybe Florida won’t be so bad."

"I was starting to feel incredibly burned out and thinking about submitting only half my apps to save money. When I saw my friend using the secondary framework, I was almost angry I just found out about it. But even now, the Framework gives me the energy to finish them since I know my remaining applications won’t just be lifeless applications I’m submitting just-because.”

[ This Is Our Sales Pitch Script ]
So…
This section is going to be our sales pitch. We worked hard on it and we hope it works! Meaning: we hope our pitch will be so compelling you’ll find yourself with no option but to exchange money for our product, if not simply out of a new insatiable curiosity.
↓
BUT if you want to just get to the features: —just scroll down until you see: “[sales pitch ends here]”
↓
However! If you’re so inclined to hear us out, read on.
If you’re reading this, you’re likely already drowning in secondaries.
You’re likely tired of convincing the nth school of your uniqueness and why this school is absolutely [also] your first choice.
Despite the initial rush of receiving your first secondaries, you’re likely losing steam; the word “diversity” is starting to look funny (as words do when stared at for too long);
Your essays are likely starting to sound as weary as you feel.
And if your initial, ambitious goal of crafting AdCom-dazzling essays has fizzled into a new objective of: just finish your secondaries, somehow…
⚠️ Then Be Warned: you’re soon to enter what is known as the Zombie Hour.
Zombie Hour (n): the eleventh hour; when the unspoken deadlines of countless unfinished secondaries force applicants to decide: push harder towards burnout or conserve lifeforce—in a zombie-like state. Both paths can undermine your chances of securing your Acceptance: either by leaving essays on the table, or by churning out essays that’ve become uninspired copies of one another, destined to join a sea of forgettable applications.
but there’s actually something worse than being forgettable.
…. being memorable for the wrong reasons.
[pause slightly to build anticipation]
This is the time when applicants start making mistakes—amusing, but application-jeopardizing mistakes. Littered throughout the archives of the /premed subreddit (a virtual oasis of shared struggle, often turned to during this time) are stories of AdComs receiving essays gushing of one’s enthusiasm for the school’s mission & campus, only to end the essay by shouting out a different school on an opposite coast…
…or accounts of applicants sharing their love for surfing and how a part of their interest in applying is being able to hit the waves and recharge from their demanding course load… at the University of Utah SOM 🌵.
If you haven’t already found yourself in the throes of the Zombie Hour, pressured to choose between quality of essays and quantity of essays, we assure you that you will soon.
and if you find yourself panic-googling alternative future timelines (like we did)…
… Rest assured. That’s why we built the Secondary Framework: a tool we wished we had for our secondaries; a tool inspired by the complete lack of inspiration we knew our essays would soon have; a tool birthed out of the question: “What if we could write effective essays, efficiently for all of our applications, without burning out?”
Well, now with the Secondary Framework, you can!
We built the framework to specifically help you organize your application and optimize your essays, in order to sidestep burnout and maximize your odds of securing your spot.

(🔴 PROBLEM #2)
👉 The Secondary Framework might be for you if…
You don’t know HOW to start
It’s common for many to approach their secondaries with
📝 … no Strategy for Effective Contentofeach essay, or
📝 … no System for Efficient Creation of all your essays
Perhaps, by instinct, you’ve taken the brute force approach: tackling your mountain of secondaries one school at a time, and admirably conjuring the creative energy required, essay after essay;
However, you’ve likely discovered the exponentially steep cost that intense writing sessions demand from your energy reserves. And since you wake up each day with a limited budget of energy, this approach is far from optimal.
…and being optimal is what sets good applicants apart from great applicants.
So, what is optimal?
Optimal considers both aspects—the content of your essays and the creation of your essays—and ensures that you’re tackling secondaries in a way that’s both effective and efficient. Stay with us now:
Productivity expert Peter Drucker puts it this way:
“Effectiveness is doing the right thing. Efficiency is doing things right.”
So, in our context of secondaries, we believe…
Effectiveness means:
Crafting cohesive, coherent, and compelling content for each essay—tailored to each school.
Efficiency means:
Sustaining this energy with a system that makes effortless the gathering of the “informational ingredients” needed for the creation of effective essays.
Together, it means::
Effectiveness means writing quality essays. Efficiency means writing all 134 of them—without burning out.
so Optimizationmeans both. Effective and Efficient; Quality and Quantity.
(🟢 SOLUTION #2)
👉 How the Framework helps you OPTIMIZE your essays:
The Framework is built on 3 main areas:
An area to view/add your schools’ information
An area to view/add your notes on themes
An area to view/add your prompts’ details
An Optimized Workspace:
The Framework then creates an optimal workspace for each prompt that automatically pulls in the “informational ingredients”—the insights/facts/distinctives required to respond to each prompt most effectively— from these 3 areas into one central view, freeing you to immediately focus your energy on writing effective, school-tailored essays.

“The essay prompts were blurring together after my 12th school. My writing was getting tired … and I almost submitted a set [of essays] to the wrong school. It’s August and I still have 16 more applications. I like that the Secondary Framework doesn’t just organize my apps, but let’s me draw from all the essays I’ve already written in an intuitive way. (Plus, seeing the prompt themes and distinctives is awesome.) Not just a time saver, but a brain saver. Now that I’m starting interview prep, finishing my remaining secondaries feels much less daunting.”
3. M A X I M I Z E
(🔴 PROBLEM #3)
👉 The Secondary Framework might be for you if…
You’re worried IF you’ll start (med school next Fall)
With an average of around 50,000 hopeful applicants applying to the 155 MD schools each year, and with only 40% of them accepted, the statistics aren’t exactly the kind of stats you print out and put on your vision board (unless that motivates you somehow, then don’t let us stop you!)
But remember: each year, many applicants inevitably succumb to secondaries’ burnout. However, the applicants mindful enough to seek out resources to skillfully navigate their secondaries and avoid burnout are guaranteed the competitive advantage.
— (🟢 SOLUTION #3)
How the Framework Helps You MAXIMIZE Your Chances
The Framework offers to maximize your odds of acceptance by helping with
Stamina 🏁🔋 You’ll have the system, the strategy, and the clarity of mind to actually meaningfully respond to every secondary essay you’re sent. This means your application will make it to the desk of AdComs, while thousands of other applications remain half-complete and never submitted.
Standing out 📄📄💡📄📄📄 Now sitting (figuratively) on the AdCom’s desk, your application will invariably be in mixed company. True, it may be next to the applicant with a 4.0 GPA, 528 MCAT, and a history of clinical experience dating back to the research initiative he founded as a toddler. But your essays will also be amongst thousands of tired, unspecific, and unremarkable essays—essays certain to wane in comparison to the specific, personal, and thoughtfully-constructed essays you engineered with the framework.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this really worth $29?
Fair question! To break it down: as an ambitious med school applicant, it’s likely you
… already applied to 16-25 medical schools, as per AAMC’s recommendation 🤷⚕️🏫
… already spent at least $850 (on 16 schools alone) on Primaries, just for a chance 🥺
… will spend an avg. of $75 per Secondary, or another$1200 on 16 schools 📝💲
… will drop $2050 total these next few weeks, with no guaranteed return👋💸🕳️
Without a strategic approach to your secondaries, you’re essentially betting $2050 ($3175 for 25 schools), hoping your essays won’t get lost in the flood of 50,000 applications.
For $29, the Framework isn’t just a purchase, it’s a decision to elevate your essays and your chances of admission; it’s an investment into the arduous med school journey you’ve put into motion—priced at 1.4% of what the entire application process will cost. So, for $29? We think it’s worth the peace of mind & competitive edge you’ll get.
And if truly don’t find it useful, we’ll honor a full refund* (see the refund policy below); so there’s nothing to lose!
Q: How is this different than an Excel or Google Spreadsheet?
Unlike static spreadsheets, the Framework is a dynamic tool built on top of many interconnected databases. This allows it to centralize relevant materials and provide the optimized writing spaces to strategically knit essays together. Spreadsheets just manually compile disparate info. The Framework does the heavy lifting so you can focus on writing. While spreadsheets store information, the Framework synthesizes it into an efficient system for tailored responses.
Q: I’ve already started to submit Secondaries. Is the Framework for me?
Yes! Arguably more so, for 2 reasons:
You Already Have a Head Start Setting up your framework is easier now that you’ve started filling your quiver 🏹 with essay material—you’ve established your narrative & baseline responses to the 10 main themes, like:
How do you contribute to Diversity🎨?
How did you handle Adversity/Challenge🔥?
What are your Future goals 🌠 ?
And you’ve likely have material now for some of the 37 subthemes, like Integrity, Empathy, or Advocacy.
The Framework frees you from manually searching your scattered Docs for existing material on themes. Instead, after adding all your material to your Notes, you’ll access them easily from any prompt in the framework.
You’re (more) Vulnerable to Burnout If you’ve been cranking out 5-10 quality essays a day, you may be one of the few writers able to write 150 effective essays with consistent quality (which is super impressive!) But simply having the stamina to might not mean it’s wisest.
Simply having the stamina to sprint 50 miles doesn’t mean it isn’t wiser to ask for a ride, especially if your (mental) health is at stake. And especially if the finish line doesn’t consider HOW you got there, but THAT you did, and are worthy of further consideration. The Framework is your vehicle. With the energy you’ll save by writing from an optimized workspace, you’ll be ready when burnout threatens to compromise the clarity of mind you’ll need for what’s next: Interviews🎙️👔
Q: What Schools Are Included? Which Details Are Included?
All US medical schools with MD Programs have been included, unless the school does not send send secondaries (i.e.Indiana University School of Medicine). We have not included Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (DO schools) ,or any schools in Canada or Puerto Rico at this time.
For schools included in the Framework, each will have its own profile page, color-coded to match its individual prompt pages, and also to differentiate between your different schools. Each school will have the following key details provided: (see image below)
Q: Which Prompts Are Included? Which Details Are Included?
All Prompts required by MD applicants are included. This means, prompts directed to specific programs (including, but not limited to PHD, MSTP, MD&E, FMAT, or other Dual Degree Prompts) may not be included. Please always confirm with the your school’s secondary application to ensure you answer any program-specific prompts.
Of the prompts included in the Framework, the following prompt details are provided:
Word or Character Count (Max or Min)
Whether it’s Optional (stated explicitly) or Conditional (i.e. if you’ve participated in a X program)
Whether it’s specifically for Reapplicants
The Main Theme or SubTheme each prompt falls under (based on our assessment, feel free to relabel them)
**Due dates may be included if they’re fixed dates, not relative to your receiving them.
Q: When Will All Prompts Be Updated to the 2023-2024 Cycle?
Keep track of schools updated in the Framework via our Prompt Tracker (2024) ⌚ (Just because we haven’t updated a school in the tracker yet doesn’t mean it hasn’t been sent!)
Each school page and prompt page will clearly indicate which cycle it’s from.
Q: What Notes Are Included?
Apart from the school and prompt details listed in the questions above, we do not provide further notes. Instead, we provide the spaces for your notes. These spaces are organized by themes and subthemes, and sync with every prompt page for easy access. Meaning: when you are assembling a response for a prompt with a “Clinical Experience” subtheme, you can quickly retrieve your notes on that subtheme without leaving the page.
Q: What is Notion and do I have to pay?
Notion is afree platform for you to think, write, & and plan. Notion is robust enough to keep experts tinkering, yet intuitive enough for someone who just discovered the computer. If you want to utilize Notion’s A.I., however, you will need to sign up for a paid plan once your complimentary AI tasks are used. You can read more about that (and our thoughts on using A.I.) here.
Q: What is a Notion Template? I’ve never bought one before.
With Notion, you can create many Workspaces: think of them like Notebooks, dedicated to a project of choice. A Notion Workspace can be as simple as a notebook with subpages, or customized to be as complex as a Dashboard, Calculator/Tracker, Website/App, etc. When people engineer these custom Workspaces, they sell them as Notion Templates, which can be bought and installed on your own Notion account.
The Secondary Framework is a robust Notion Template that we’ve spent countless hours fine-tuning so that it can free you as much as possible to focus on the parts of your secondaries that matter most.
Q: What happens after I purchase the Secondary Framework?
If you already have (or choose to create) a Gumroad account, after your purchase, you’ll be directed to the Framework Setup Guide within Gumroad. This page can be accessed from your Gumroad library at any time. If you don’t have an account, you’ll be sent a link to the Framework Setup Guide. Once you’ve accessed the Framework Setup, you’ll follow the (super simple) steps to download and customize your Framework, and be primed to craft AdCom-captivating essays.
Q: Is there a sample or demo of the Framework?
Indeed there is! You can check out this example of the Secondary Framework and see some ways it can streamline and optimize your secondaries app process today!
We grappled with the feasibility of a refund policy for awhile. Similar to buying a downloadable eBook, once you’ve purchased the Framework, there’s technically no way for us to force you to actually give it back or delete it.
But we’ve decided to take the risk:
We’ll offer a 7-day 100% money-back guarantee, 🔄️if you truly don’t find it helpful.
Since you could totally just finesse us, download the Framework, & quickly ask for a refund (which we simply must trust you won’t do 🥲), we’ve decided we will ask for one condition: In exchange for your refund, we ask that you respond to one of the following prompts:
What would you need from the Framework for it to be a good fit? And briefly describe a unique, but absolutely useless skill you have and probably wouldn’t share in your secondaries. (200 words)
What would you need from the Framework for it to be a good fit? And briefly share one aspect of healthcare that will significantly transformed (or made obsolete) by emerging tech such as A.I. or V.R. (200 words)
What would you need from the Framework for it to be a good fit? And briefly share something you believed about the world as a child that you later learned was embarrassingly inaccurate? (200 words)
And we’re being completely serious 😎. We figure this way we know you’ve made an attempt to use the framework, and if you do secretly keep it, at least we get some insights (and entertainment) in return. Then, you’ll receive 100% of every penny spent back.
You may see “Powered by FutureMD.org” on the Framework. While the Secondary Framework has been in the works for awhile, we recently launched FutureMD to be a future resource hub for tools, such as the Framework. While there isn’t much on it yet, we have lots of plans to be revealed super soon.
Q: I have more questions. Where can I ask them?
Don’t hesitate to contact us at info@futuremd.org for any further questions or concerns!
