About FutureMD
Our Mission and Vision
At FutureMD, our passions are two-fold. We’re passionate about training future doctors. And we’re passionate about the future of medicine.
On Training FutureMD’s
In recent years, we’ve happily seen the increase of aspiring doctors in the rising numbers of medical applicants, hitting a record high of 62,000 of applicants in the 2021-2022 in the U.S. This is in line with our vision of combating health disparity with the deployment of more qualified, change-making health providers. However, this also means the application process for medical schools is becoming increasingly competitive, and necessarily so in order to maintain the degree of competency expected of the doctor.
Our hope is to be a digital resource of resources in this ever-changing landscape, offering no-cost to affordable tools to incoming, pre-medical applicants, as well as current medical students and residents. This may take the form of articles, eBooks, swipe files, study guides, question banks, software, webinars, and more, created with the purpose to supplement the futureMD’s educational journey. This includes a planned wealth of resources to help you specifically navigate through your application, personal statement, secondary essays, interviews, and more.
More than that, however, this also includes designing resources with a holistic view of health—offering tools and strategies for mental health, emotional health, spiritual health, and social health, alongside the more commonly addressed areas of physical and academic health.
Our goal, in different words, is simply to be a part of shaping the future of medicine, one pre-med student at a time. At FutureMD.org, we aspire to be more than just a resource hub: as a digital compass in your med journey, we also are committed to providing relevant, up-to-date information that can help you make informed decisions about your future, whether that be medical school statistics, industry insights, field and specialization developments, cultural trends, etc.
Our team is made up of professionals who have either navigated the medical school application process themselves, or bring to the table a diverse array of perspectives, skills, and insights positioned add value to the conversation on healthcare, both locally and globally.
On the Future of Medicine
The second area we focus on is the future of medicine. This includes technological advancements in medicine and equipment, groundbreaking research, thoughts on public policy and health in the public sector, bioethics (including topics such as healthcare’s relationship with digital technology and artificial intelligence).
Regarding technology, our position is simple: we believe technology—including and especially artificial technology and machine learning—has the potential for reshaping the medical landscape for the better. We are excited for and sponsor projects toward that end. However, we are committed, also, to developing an increasing awareness of the ethical implications of every new advancement inevitably brings. Thus, at FutureMD.org, our research and writing covers not only the exciting what’s in the field of medical advancement, but also the important why’s and so what’s, raised by each development.
